La prctica de la partera en condiciones desventajosas para las mujeres que la realizan y para las que lo utilizan, es sintomtico de la imposibilidad de facto del ejercicio de los derechos de las mujeres campesinas y en ltima instancia de lo limitado de su ciudadana. En tanto la incorporacin de las parteras a los sistemas oficiales de salud no se ha instrumentado desde una perspectiva intercultural, al contrario de generar las condiciones para el mejoramiento de la prctica, ha derivado en el abandono de conocimientos, tcnicas y procedimientos tradicionales en detrimento del desarrollo de competencias que permitan atender los alumbramientos con mayor seguridad para las mujeres.
