A description about aluminum and its alloys has been done. The microstructures, textures and recrystallization for the AlFeSi AA4006 aluminum alloy strips produced by twin roll caster (TRC) and direct chill (DC) have been analyzed and compared. Significant differences in the morphologies of the grains and distributions of the intermetallic particles were detected and are discussed. Heat treatment effects on the silicon content in solid solution were studied. Crystallographic texture results showed significant texture changes across thickness of the sheet specimens (TRC and DC). TRC sheet presented the typical shear texture near the surface, while, in internal regions, the fibre was observed. The recrystallization for the TRC strip sample occurs at a higher temperature than that for the DC strip sample. The shear texture occurred on the surface and fiber in the center for the cold rolled TRC strip sample. In the DC sheet sample, under the same conditions, the cube component and fiber texture (at the surface and in the center) were observed. A texture with random oriented grains and fiber absence were detected in the two recrystallized sheet samples (TRC and DC).
