Amelia, directed by Mira Nair (The Namesake, Vanity Fair, Monsoon Wedding), chronicles Earhart's early aviation triumphs and her meteoric rise to fame and fortune. Twotime Academy Awardwinner Hilary Swank stars as the legendary aviatrix, with Academy Awardnominee Richard Gere as Earhart's publisher and husband, George Putnam. Academy Awardnominee Virginia Madsen, and Golden Globewinner Ewan McGregor round out the excellent cast. Fox Searchlight Pictures will release Amelia in select theaters October 23, 2009.
