Known as the Filmmakers bible, for several generations, one of the worlds most widely used cinema reference books is more comprehensive than ever moving into the digital side of image capture. Completely reimagined to reflect the sweeping technological changes that our industry has experienced, this edition of the Manual is vibrant and essential reading, as well as an invaluable field resource, covering subjects such as: A comprehensive breakdown of digital technology terminology The explosion of prosumer cameras in professional use Previsualization 3D LED lighting fixtures How to use the Academy Color Encoding Specification (ACES) An entirely new section on digital camera prep, and more!

As a film student, I've found this manual invaluable for my coursework. The depth of information on lighting and camera techniques is impressive. It’s dense, but if you're serious about learning cinematography, you won’t regret adding this book to your collection!

Solid Resource but Lacks Visuals
This manual is packed with great information about cinematography, but I wish there were more illustrations and examples. While the text is informative, sometimes it feels a bit dry. Still a decent reference for anyone serious about the craft.

Very Detailed but Outdated
I found the American Cinematographer Manual to be quite comprehensive, but some of the techniques and equipment discussed seem outdated. It's still a good read for foundational knowledge, but don't expect the latest trends in film-making. It’s a mixed bag for sure.

Great Guide for Film Enthusiasts
I recently picked up the American Cinematographer Manual Vol. I, and it's a treasure trove of information. The techniques explained are super useful, especially for someone like me just starting out in cinematography. I'd say it's a must-have for any aspiring filmmaker!
