When World War II came to an end in 1945, America was on the verge of an unprecedented economic boom that carried over to its vast rail transportation system. Railroads placed orders for new streamlined passenger trains. Passengers wanted new, fashionable trains with sleek cars and locomotives. In addition, steam was out, diesels were in. Railroads saw good times coming and they prepared well for them. This 200page color book features 335 photographs in a 10 x 10 hardbound volume. Covers numerous name trains.

I enjoyed the book, but I thought it would be more about the cars themselves rather than the era. Still, it’s interesting to read about the postwar impact on design. Just a bit different than I anticipated!

Beautifully illustrated but pricey
The artwork in the American Streamliner book is stunning, but I felt the price was a bit steep for the page count. It's nice to look at, but I wish it had more depth on specific models. Still, it makes a nice coffee table book!

Disappointed with the condition on arrival
When I received the American Streamliner book, it had some marks on the cover that were not mentioned in the description. I was looking forward to it but felt let down by the condition. Customer service was helpful though!
