At the time, moving to China to teach English to university students seemed like a good idea. During her first cultureshocked weeks in Wuhan, Temple Bartlett encountered children who screamed and ran at the sight of a "foreign devil" and school officials snooping in her apartment. Her original plan was to spend a year teaching English in China to reevaluate her career goals and take a break from dating. In reality, she stayed for two and half years, met her husband in Wuhan (no he's not, he has red hair), learned how to be a teacher, and developed an addiction to the fascinating world that her Chinese ESL students described as "Communism with Chinese characteristics." "An Assault on My Senses: Living and Working in Central China" began as a series of emails the author sent to American friends and family. It's a loosely chronological journey through her two and a half years in China.
By changing our most important processes and
products, we have already made a big leap forward. This ranges from the
increased use of more sustainable fibers to the use of more
environmentally friendly printing processes to the development of
efficient waste management in our value chain.
