Chapter 1 introduces the book and provides the aim, objectives. Chapter 2 serves as an introduction to the subject of accident causation in general and presents an examination of accident causation in the construction industry. This chapter also reviews the usage of health and safety ICT tools in the construction industry highlighting the limitations. Chapter 3 presents the limitations in current health and safety procedures in the construction industry. Chapter 4 includes review of GIS applications in general its use in health and safety. Chapter 5 includes the development of a conceptual model and spatial and nonspatial database schema. The individual processes required within the system are discussed and modelled using Integrated Definition Language Zero (IDEF0) methodology. Chapter 6 and 7 describe the development of the final system architecture and prototype software within GIS. Chapter 8 presents the evaluation of the system, which involves the utilisation of the developed evaluation procedures to evaluate the implemented prototype tool using construction practitioners. Chapter 9 consists of the conclusion, recommendations of the book.
