One of the few textbooks in the field, this volume deals with several aspects of the dynamics of colloids. A selfcontained treatise, it fills the gap between research literature and existing books for graduate students and researchers. For readers with a background in chemistry, the first chapter contains a section on frequently used mathematical techniques, as well as statistical mechanics. Some of the topics covered include: diffusion of free particles on the basis of the Langevin equationthe separation of time, length and angular scales; the fundamental FokkerPlanck and Smoluchowski equations derived for interacting particles friction of spheres and rods, and hydrodynamic interaction of spheres (including three body interactions) diffusion, sedimentation, critical phenomena and phase separation kinetics experimental light scattering results. For universities and research departments in industry this textbook makes vital reading.

This second volume is well-organized and provides a comprehensive look at colloidal dynamics. The authors did a great job explaining the principles and their implications in real-world scenarios, which I found very helpful.

Essential Reading for Materials Science
As a graduate student in materials science, this book has been crucial for my studies. The insights into colloid behavior and their applications are fascinating. I especially liked the detailed case studies provided in the chapters.

Not What I Expected
I purchased this thinking it would cover more practical applications of colloids, but it’s heavily focused on theory. While the content is well-researched, it wasn’t what I needed for my project. It’s a solid book nonetheless.

Solid Resource, But Not for Everyone
I found Volume 2 of this series interesting, but it’s quite technical. It’s perfect if you’re already familiar with interface science; otherwise, the jargon can be overwhelming. I’d say it’s good but not beginner-friendly.

Depth of Knowledge!
I’m impressed with the depth of knowledge presented in this volume. It's packed with information that advanced researchers will appreciate. Just be prepared to put in the work to digest everything. Definitely worth the investment for serious students!
