This book is a substantially expanded edition of An Introduction to Random Vibrations and Spectral Analysis which now covers wavelet analysis. Basic theory is thoroughly described and illustrated, with a detailed explanation of how discrete wavelet transforms work. Computer algorithms are expalined and supported by examples and set of problems. An appendix lists 10 computer programs for calculating and displaying wavelet transforms.

I bought this book to prepare for my graduate studies and found it helpful for understanding the theoretical side of random vibrations. A bit dry at times, but the math is well laid out. Just be ready for a lot of equations!

Misleading Title, Not for Everyone
Honestly, I expected more practical applications from this book based on the title. It gets pretty technical and might be tough for beginners. Not my favorite, but it does cover the basics of spectral analysis if you stick with it.

Decent Book, But Lacks Depth
The book covers the basics of spectral analysis pretty well but feels a bit shallow in certain areas. I was hoping for more detailed examples. Still, it’s a good start for anyone new to the subject.

Great Intro for Beginners
I picked up 'An Introduction to Random Vibrations' for my engineering course, and it’s been a fantastic resource. The wavelet analysis section is particularly well explained, making it easier to grasp complex concepts. Perfect for students like me!

Solid Reference for Practitioners
As someone working in mechanical engineering, this book is a solid reference. The sections on random vibrations give practical insights that I find very useful. Great book for applied learning!
