(Heinrich Bll, 1980) Auch am Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts fllt es schwer, diese Aussage zu widerlegen. Vor dem Hintergrund der vielfltigen und vielschichtigen Entwicklungsprobleme in den Entwicklungslndern nimmt die Zahl der Migrationswilligen in diesen Lndern weiterhin zu. Die sich verschrfende Kluft zwischen reichen und armen Lndern trgt dazu bei, dass die Anziehungskraft der wohlhabenderen Lnder auch in nchster Zeit eher ansteigen als nachlassen wird (Vgl. United Nations Development Programme, 1999). Einerseits herrscht allgemeiner Konsens, dass Defizite im Humankapital eine der Hauptursachen dafr ist, dass arme Lnder arm bleiben (Vgl. Stark, 2003, S.2). Andererseits weist der jhrliche Weltbankbericht Global Economic Prospects fr 2006 darauf hin, dass internationale Migration zu erheblichen Wohlfahrtssteigerungen fr Migranten und deren Familien, sowie fr deren Herkunfts und Ziellnder fhren kann (Vgl. World Bank, 2005a). Thema dieser Arbeit ist es die Ursachen der Migration zu analysieren und die Auswirkungen der Auswanderung auf die Entwicklungschancen in den Abwanderungslndern zu untersuchen. Dabei werden zunchst die Anreize zur Migration skizziert sowie die Kriterien fr die Auswahl des Einwanderungslandes herausgestellt. Daraufhin werden die kontrovers diskutierten Folgen fr die Abwanderungslnder dargestellt und durch empirische Beobachtungen gesttzt.
