Es soll vor Allem gezeigt werden, dass auch in der realistischen Literatur geographische Rume unter Anderem dazu dienen, ganz bestimmte Inhalte, Ideen und Ideologien zu transportieren. Als besondere Implikation kommt hinzu, dass beide untersuchten Romane einen sehr bekannten historischen Abschnitt der europischen Geschichte als Hintergrund und als Thema ihrer Handlung benutzen. Natrlich reflektieren die geographischen Rume die Historizitt von 'Krieg und Frieden' und von 'Vor dem Sturm', aber auch historische Rume haben in der Literatur besondere Funktionen auer derjenigen, historisch zu sein.
