Emerging multimedia applications are generating a demand for public networks to be able to multiplex and switch simultaneously a wide spectrum of data rates. Traffic control and resource management are complex issues in wireless asynchronous transfer mode (WATM) due to broad range qualityofservices (QoS) and limited bandwidth spectrum. In WATM, traffic control is essential in order to protect the network from congestion and to achieve realistic network efficiency in compliance with the QoS. Exchanging access point to the backbone network is thereby common and this may contribute to connection rejections when channels are busy. The effect to QoS at call level is the high probability of handover dropping if the targeted call site has no available channels. The main objective of this book is the performance analysis of handover schemes in WATM with virtual connection tree (VCT) that can give high QoS performance in terms of probability of new call block and handover call dropping. Hence, an improvement had been made and it is called With Queuing and Reserved Channels (WQRC). Using WQRC, low probability of handover dropping is maintained and new call blocking probability is reduced.
