Jen Barcsay, a professor who taught applied anatomy at the Budapest Academy of Fine arts, offers a detailed portrayal of the human body for the fine artist in 142 full page plates. From the entire skeleton and the joints in and out of motion to all the muscles and even facial characteristics, every body part appears in closeup and from varying perspectives, with discussions of anatomical construction.

I was a bit disappointed with 'Anatomy for the Artist'. The layout felt a bit cramped, and some sections were hard to follow. I received it with a bent cover too, which didn’t help my impression. Hoping for a better experience next time!

Great reference for artists!
I picked up 'Anatomy for the Artist' to improve my figure drawing skills, and it’s been super helpful. The illustrations are really detailed, and the explanations make complex concepts easier to grasp. I love how it breaks everything down clearly!

Decent but could use more examples
I like the book, but I was hoping for more practical examples of the anatomy in action. The visuals are great, but sometimes it’s hard to translate that into drawing. Still, it’s a good starting point!
