When a beach weekend seems doomed by fog, cold, and delays, resourcefulness and patience will result in an exhilarating time. Despite the abundant detail and dialogue, the characters remain flat, while some incidentsthe delays encountered en route to the beach, or Middlun winning a poster competitionare predictable. Although not as good as Cameron's Julian'' series, it is charming and, despite its sweetness, does include some realistic elements such as sibling rivalries and fears. Harrison's light pencil drawings look a little like unfinished sketches. Some are throughly shadowed by lines with little subtlety or graduation.
