Der Laie mag auf den ersten Blick meinen, dass diese Bruche den deutschen sehr hneln oder sogar dieselben seien. Erst nach genauerer Betrachtung werden Unterschiede deutlich. Denn nicht jeder wrde, wenn er sich in der Vorweihnachtszeit in Grobritannien aufhlt und dort ein Plakat mit Werbung fr ein Weihnachtsstck oder singende Kinder sieht, bemerken, dass es sich hier um die typisch britischen Weihnachtsbruche der Christmas pantomime und des carol singings handelt. Diese Arbeit soll die in Richard Curtis' Film Love Actually' (der deutsche Titel lautet Tatschlich Liebe') thematisierten und im Seminar besprochenen Christmas customs aufgreifen und beschreiben. Zum Teil soll hier auch auf die geschichtliche Entstehungsweise, wenn diese bedeutend oder interessant fr den heutigen Brauch ist, eingegangen werden. Da die Bruche oft zu bestimmten Zeitpunkten statt finden und die Handlung des Films chronologisch erzhlt wird und etwa vier Wochen vor Weihnachten beginnt, bietet es sich an, die auftretenden customs in der Reihenfolge, in der sie im Film vorkommen, darzustellen. In diesem werden zwischendurch die jeweiligen Zeitpunkte (z.B. 4 weeks to Christmas') eingeblendet, die in dieser Arbeit auch so bernommen werden.
