Im Mittelpunkt der Analyse steht der Kampf zweier aggressiver Elefanten, der MPLA und der UNITA, die seit der Unabhngigkeit von Portugal permanent die politische Landschaft Angolas beschdigen. Zwar gehrt dieser nun schon lange andauernde Konflikt zu den Ereignissen, die periodisch groe Aufmerksamkeit in der Weltffentlichkeit erregen, letztlich werden diese Auseinandersetzungen aber wohl als "vergessene Kriege" auf der "Mllhalde der Geschichte" landen. Luansi versucht, Antworten darauf zu geben, warum der Transitionsprozess in Angola nach fast zehn Jahren internationaler Intervention der UNO doch gescheitert ist.
