A twopage spread is devoted to each area and its inhabitants. The boardbook format and brief text imply that the book is for toddlers, but the pictures belie this impression. While they are extremely attractive with lots of color and detail, they are also fussy and crowded in the British cozycluttered school of illustration. Some even have lovely (although crowded) borders surrounding the them. This design will be confusing to infants and young toddlers who need a clear and simple illustration on a clear backdrop.
