La tecnologa de DNA microarrays ha supuesto una revolucin en el campo de la genmica, permitiendo una rpida adquisicin de conocimientos. La generacin de hiptesis basadas en informacin procedente de este tipo de metodologas est permitiendo acelerar el descubrimiento de nuevos mecanismos de accin hormonales relevantes. Esto est siendo especialmente til en el acmpo de la endocrinologa, fundamentalmente debido a que la regulacin de la expresin de determinados genes es un mecanismo clave por el cual las hormonas ejercen sus acciones en el organismo. En esta Tesis Doctoral se ha empleado esta tecnologa con el propsito de caracterizar la respuesta del hgado a las acciones de los estrgenos, la hormona de crecimiento y las hormonas tiroideas. La presente Tesis Doctoral fue dirigida por el profesor Dr. Leandro Fernndez Prez de la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, y realizada en colaboracin con el Dr. Gunnar Norstedt y el Dr. Amlcar Flores Morales en el Center for Molecular Medicine del Instituto Karolinska (Estocolmo, Suecia).
