La prtesis no convencional (PNC) se emplea para la reconstruccin del tercio proximal del fmur posterior a la reseccin de un tumor seo. Se cuenta con un diseo propio de PNC, cuya principal desventaja es su baja estabilidad. Para ello se estudia mediante elementos finitos cules son los parmetros de diseo que mejoren su desempeo biomecnico. La geometra se determin mediante cortes tomogrficos realizados a un fmur de cadver. Fueron desarrollados siete casos de estudio. Los primeros dos casos ubican los pernos bloqueadores. El tercer caso determina la longitud que proporciona la mayor estabilidad al implante. En el cuarto caso se analizan diseos de la PNC con diferente rigidez del extremo superior. El quinto caso estudia el efecto de la camisa y del hueso que crece a travs de ella. En el sexto caso se analiza el efecto de restablecer la palanca abductora. Por ltimo, en el sptimo caso se consideran tres distintos materiales. Al final del estudio se determinaron los parmetros de diseo que mejoran la estabilidad del implante. El factor que podra mejorar en mayor medida la estabilidad del implante tiene que ver con restablecer la palanca abductora.
