En esta obra se describe una metodologa basada en las Matemticas de la Incertidumbre para incorporar en la formulacin de los modelos de colas la imprecisin que se obtiene cuando los datos o parmetros iniciales del sistema no son obtenidos objetiva y exactamente, bien por la imposibilidad de conocerlos con antelacin o certeza (p.ej. desarrollo de un nuevo proyecto) bien por la dificultad de la toma de datos en determinados sistemas (p.ej. sistemas con disciplina de espera no establecida de forma precisa debido a excepciones o perturbaciones). El estudio se fundamenta en la Teora de los Subconjuntos Borrosos (Fuzzy Sets Theory) y la Teora de Posibilidad, las cuales tienen como objetivo desarrollar tcnicas y mtodos para analizar y resolver problemas demasiado complejos o deficientemente determinados, y ofrecen herramientas matemticas para tratar con sistemas definidos slo de manera aproximada. As, se describen, formulan y optimizan diversos modelos de colas con datos inciertos y son obtenidos resultados que contienen toda la incertidumbre inicial del sistema y son ms realistas que los resultados proporcionados por los modelos clsicos de colas comnmente utilizados.
