Das Konzept der Balanced Scorecard versteht sich als ganzheitliches Managementsystem, welches die Defizite klassischer Kennzahlensysteme aufgreift. Es geht auf Robert S. Kaplan und David P. Norton zurck, welche ihren Ansatz im Jahr 1996 vorstellten.1 Die Grundidee der Balanced Scorecard besteht darin, ein wertorientiertes Planungs, Kommunikations und Steuerungsinstrument zu erstellen, das zur Erarbeitung, Umsetzung, Prfung und gegebenenfalls zur Neuausrichtung von Unternehmensstrategien dient.2 Zentrales Ziel ist es, die Strategie mit operativen Manahmen zu verknpfen sowie die Verwendung finanzieller Kennzahlen um nichtfinanzielle Kennzahlen zu erweitern.3 Die wachsende Bedeutung des Balanced Scorecard Ansatzes lsst sich besonders an der Vielzahl der Publikationen ablesen, die sich in den letzten Jahren das Thema zu eigen machten. Auf der anderen Seite gewinnen auch die sog. Autobanken immer mehr an Bedeutung. So entwickeln sich die Finanzdienstleistungssparten der Automobilkonzerne immer mehr zu tragenden Sulen der Gesamtkonzerne und steuern neben der Absatzfrderung auch z.T. betrchtliche Anteile an deren Gesamtergebnis bei.4 Da der Automobilmarkt selbst an seine Grenzen stt und ein Wachstum aus eigener Kraft wenig wahrscheinlich scheint, sehen sich die Anbieter von Leasing und Finanzierungsangeboten nicht ganz uneigenntzig als Schwungrad der Automobilwirtschaft', welche es ermglichen, da die Wertschpfung in die Nutzungsphase des Fahrzeugs verlngert werden kann.5
