Este gran libro es tal vez el nico o uno de los pocos que trata en profundidad la ciudad de Granada en sus periodos ms ignotos e ignorados, entre ellos, la Antigedad Tarda. Por ello, la presente obra aporta la maxma documentacin de modo sintetizado a partir del escaso repertorio bibliogrfico, y, a su vez, ofrece deducciones bastante interesantes sobre la toponima, la geografa, el paisaje urbano del asentamiento, la creacin de la periferia sub urbe y sobre otros aspectos relacionados con la secuencia evolutiva entre el oppidum ibero y la madina rabe. Ciertamente, este libro deja bien claro que Iliberri fue una gran ciudad romana que, sin embargo, ha sido marginada en pos de la Alhambra y de la entidad de los monumentos de la ciudad rabe. Por lo tanto, para el profano en el tema, este libro le permitir redescubrir Granada desde otra perspectiva que no sea la puramente medievalista, mientras que, para el experto, es un referente junto a los principales trabajos de Gmez Moreno, Sotomayor y Orfila Pons, por citar a los ms insignes investigadores de la Iliberri romanocristiana.
