Stellungnahmen, Bedenken und Einwiinden aus mikrobiologischer Sicht werden mehr oder weniger iiberzeugende Resultate klinischer (retrospektiver und prospektiver) Studien entgegengehalten. Je nach Einstellung des Untersuchers und der von ihm gewiihlten Versuchs bedingungen lassen sie sich als Argumente flir oder auch gegen eine Anti bioticaProphylaxe verwenden. Vielfach ist es dabei fUr den Chirurgen auBer ordentIich schwer oder sogar unmoglich, die Dignitiit derartiger VerOffent lichungen hinsichtlich ihrer mikrobiologischen Parameter zu beurteilen, und umgekehrt ist der Mikrobiologe zumeist nicht in der Lage, die chi rurgischklinische Relevanz solcher Studien zu erkennen und zu bewerten. Es erschien daher interessant und informativ, in gemeinsamer Arbeit von Chirurgen und Mikrobiologen das umfangreiche Schrifttum zu sichten und auszuwerten, das sich seit 1960 mit der AntibioticaProphylaxe in der Un fallheilkunde befaBt. Beriicksichtigt wurden hierbei zuniichst nur klinisch kasuistische Berichte, wiihrend auf tierexperimentelle Studien bewuBt verzichtet wurde speziell in der Erkenntnis der nicht seItenen Abhiingig keit einer AntibioticaProphylaxe auch von wirtschaftlichen Interessen bindungen und der in weiten Grenzen moglichen Manipulierbarkeit gerade des Tierversuches. Das Ergebnis dieser interdisziplinaren Literaturrecherche liegt nunmehr vor und wird hoffentlich dazu beitragen, die oft leiden schaftliche Diskussion zur komplexen Thematik einer AntibioticaPro phylaxe in der Traumatologie zu versachlichen. 1m Dezember 1979 K.
