Er ist Herausgeber des internationalen Jahrbuchs Proverbium (1984ff.). Product Description Dieser Band vereinigt Studien zur formelhaften Sprache von der Klassik bis zur Moderne. Der Autor zeigt auf, wie geflgelte Worte in Schlagzeilen, Reklamen und Karikaturen der Massenmedien verwendet werden und wie bekannte Zitate zu Aphorismen und Graffiti umgeformt werden. Es geht aber auch um die Herkunft, berlieferung, Verbreitung, Bedeutung und Funktion von sprichwrtlichen Redensarten, Sprichwrtern und Sagwrtern, wobei zahlreiche Belege aus der Literatur und den Medien besprochen werden. Hinzu kommen sprichwrtliche Prosatexte und redensartliche Gedichte moderner Autoren, die an Hand von Sprachmontagen die (un)sinnige Phrasendrescherei blostellen. Ausserdem wird untersucht, wie sprichwrtliche Aphorismen als innovative Krzesttexte satirische und moralische Gesellschaftskritik ben. Schlielich werden noch sogenannte Antisprichwrter analysiert, die das berlieferte Weisheitsgut kritisch in Frage stellen. Ganz allgemein zeigt sich an den vielen Textbelegen, da sich die bewuten Abwandlungen vorgeprgter Sprachware mit der Sprichwortvariation In lingua veritas umschreiben lassen.
