On 1st April 1944, the American Airforce accidentally bombed the Swiss town of Schaffhausen, killing forty people. Forty years later a Swiss survivor, who lost his first love in the bombing, coincidentally meets one of the American airmen at the community grave in Schaffhausen. Roy Swanepoel, born in South Africa, lives and teaches in Schaffhausen. In 2003 he won the annual Stauffacher Short Story Prize. Am 1.April 1944 bombardierte die amerikanische Luftwaffe versehentlich die Schweizer Stadt Schaffhausen. Dabei kamen vierzig Menschen ums Leben. Vierzig Jahre spter begegnet am Gemeinschaftsgrab in Schaffhausen ein Schweizer berlebender, der bei dem Bombenangriff seine erste Liebe verlor, zufllig einem der amerikanischen Flieger. Roy Swanepoel, geboren in Sdafrika, lebt und unterrichtet in Schaffhausen. 2003 gewann er den jhrlichen Stauffacher Kurzgeschichtenwettbewerb.
