La Psicologa Perinatal es un campo nuevo de la psicologa de la primera infancia. Por definicin, abarca el momento del embarazo, parto, puerperio y los primeros meses del nio, trabajando con la madre puerpera y su hijo. Este nuevo campo esta en plano proceso de construccin, construyendo su marco terico, y sobre todo, elaborando sus propias herramientas de intervencin. La inclusin del padre al abordaje enriquecer a la psicologa perinatal y al desempeo profesional en esta rea. En el presente trabajo se apunta a realizar una aproximacin a una realidad observada y pocas veces considerada: el pap iniciando el vnculo con su hijo en la internacin de un servicio de neonatologa en un hospital "materno" neonatal. La presencia del padre se constituye no slo como funcin separadora, sino tambin como soporte de la madre y como facilitador del vnculo parental. La situacin de internacin por prematurez presenta, en su particularidad, una oportunidad singular para el establecimiento temprano del vnculo padrehijo.
