Die in diesem Buch vorgelegt Untersuchung geht auf das von der Deut schen Forschungsgemeinschaft gefrderte Projekt "Zur Vermittlung sozi aler und biographischer Zeitstrukturen das Beispiel der Zeitarbeit" zu rck, das von 1985 bis 1988 am Institut fr Soziologie der PhilippsUni versitt Marburg durchgefhrt wurde. Dieses Buch stellt die Ergebnisse des quantitativstatistischen sowie des betriebssoziologischen Untersu chungsteils, die einen in sich geschlossenen Zusammenhang bilden, um fassend dar. An diesem Projekt haben neben den Verfassern auch Monika WohlrabSahr (als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin) und Norbert Johrendt (als studentische Hilfskraft) mitgewirkt. Einige Ergebnisse dieses Untersuchungsabschnittes wurden bereits in zwei Aufstzen in der "Sozialen Welt" (Brose/SchulzeBingjWohlrab Sahr 1987b, 1987c) verffentlicht; den Beitrag von Monika WohlrabSahr zu diesen Arbeiten mchten wird besonders hervorheben. Teile von Kapi tel 11 und III der vorliegenden Publikation stellen eine inhaltlich berar beitete und aktualisierte Fassung dieser Aufstze dar. Wir mchten an dieser Stelle noch einmal allen denjenigen danken, die zum Fortgang unseres Projekts beigetragen haben, insbesondere den Vertretern von Unternehmen, Belegschaftsvertretungen, Gewerkschaften und Verbnden, die sich fr z.T. sehr zeitaufwendige Expertengesprche zur Verfgung gestellt haben, sowie den Zeitarbeitsunternehmen fr ihre Bereitschaft, unserer Studie nicht nur durch Gesprche, sondern auch durch die Verfgbarmachung umfangreicher Betriebsdaten zu unterstt zen.
