Nicht nur, weil sich die Situation am Arbeitsmarkt dramatisch zuspitzt1, sondern auch weil jeder Bundesbrger direkt oder indirekt von der Erwerbslosigkeit betroffen ist. Seien es die Arbeitslosen selbst, die an den Rand der Gesellschaft gedrngt werden, seien es die Steuerzahler, welche fr die zustzlichen Belastungen aufkommen mssen, seien es die Rentner, welche sich mit faktischen Krzungen ihrer Bezge abfinden mssen, seien es Schler und Studenten, die Einschnitten ins Bildungssystem frchten mssen, seien es die Gewerkschaften, welche aufgrund gesunkener Mitgliederzahlen Legitimittseinbuen hinzunehmen haben, oder seien es die Bundes und Lnderregierung(en), welche aufgrund ihres Versagens" um ihre Wiederwahl bangen mssen. Jedweder Diskurs so auch derjenige um die Arbeitslosigkeit wird von Sprechern und Reprsentanten verschiedener sozialer Gruppen getragen und ber die Medien vermittelt2. Im Rahmen des Proseminars Kommunikation, Medien und Kultur Printmedien und ffentliche Diskurse" stellten sich daher primr zwei Fragen: 1. Welche Funktionen erfllen die einzelnen Printmedien im Diskurs bzw. beschrnken sich diese Medien ausschlielich auf ihre Vermittlerfunktion? Und 2. Welche Funktion kommt den auftretenden Akteuren zu? Ziel der folgenden Ausfhrungen ist es, Antworten auf diese beiden Fragen zu finden. Um die abschlieenden Ergebnisse nachvollziehen und beurteilen zu knnen, ist es jedoch ntig, sich zunchst einen berblick ber den exakten Forschungsgegenstand sowie ber das geplante Vorgehen zu verschaffen.
