Product Description Cricket learns he is different from Grasshopper because his ears are on his knees. He and Grasshopper hop through the grass towards the barn, and they meet several creatures. When they ask each one why theyre special, each one has a different reason...except Grasshopper. Why is he also special, and who tells him? About the Author Several years ago, The Nature Museum of the Chicago Academy of Sciences had a wonderful exhibit explaining the feats of insects and arachnids in relation to human endeavors. I spent several hours there gathering facts...things I didn't know. In order for children to better understand this relationship, I have written the story, 'Are Your Ears On Your Knees?' featuring a grasshopper and a cricket, and their discussions with other insects and a spider about how each is different, and therefore special. After teaching kindergarten for thirty years, and now retired, I feel youngsters understand math and science concepts more if they're related to children's experiences.I live in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, with my dog, Brillo. I have a daughter, a son inlaw, and two wonderful granddaughters.
