Glucks knstlerisches Interesse an Quinaults Text muss vor dem Horizont des spezifisch franzsischen Theaterlebens verstanden werden: der diskursive Umgang mit Armide fhrt von den dramatischen Parodien der Pariser Sprechbhnen bis hin zu vielfltigen Ausprgungen musikdramatischer Formen im Laufe des 18. Jahrhunderts. Auf diesem Weg lsst sich eine Tradition des knstlerischen Umgangs mit gleichsam kanonisierten musikdramatischen Werken herausarbeiten, die eine neue Perspektive auf Glucks Armide und deren Bedeutung im Kontext seiner Pariser Opern erffnet. About the Author Die Autorin: Drte Schmidt studierte Schulmusik, Musikwissenschaft, Germanisitik, Philosophie in Hannover, Berlin und Freiburg. Seit 2000 ist sie Professorin fr Musikwissenschaft an der Staatlichen Hochschule fr Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Stuttgart. Bei J.B. Metzler ist erschienen: Lenz im zeitgenssischen Musiktheater, 1993.
