A novel framework linking the knowledge of insulation ageing to asset management has been developed. Using this framework, the influence of harmonics on electrical tree growth and diagnostic partial discharge patterns from laboratory experiments is investigated. Findings confirm that unmonitored changes in power quality can lead to an overestimation of the insulations ageing state leading to untimely asset management decisions.
