Product Description Die Studie befasst sich mit drei fr Wien typischen Phnomenen: der sterreichischen Kaiserin Elisabeth, dem Musical und dem Tod in Text und Bild. Dass Elisabeth weit mehr ist als die Kitschfigur aus den SissiFilmen mit Romy Scheider und Karlheinz Bhm erfhrt jeder, der sich in Wien mit der historischen Persnlichkeit beschftigt und man begegnet ihr in der sterreichischen Hauptstadt auf Schritt und Tritt. Das Musical von Michael Kunze (Buch und Libretto) und Sylvester Levay (Musik) geht dem Mythos Elisabeth nach und stellt die Figur in Beziehung zum Tod, der als personifizierte, begehrenswerte Gestalt auftritt. "Elisabeth" hatte am 3. September 1992 im Theater an der Wien Urauffhrung (Regie Harry Kupfer) und machte von dort aus seinen Weg in die Welt. Fr ein Musical zu der Zeit, als Andrew Lloyd Webber die Szene beherrschte, ein ungewhnliches Unterfangen. Das deutschungarische Autorenduo Kunze und Levay gab die Rechte an dem Stck frei, lie sehr unterschiedliche Inszenierungen zu, schrieb sogar neue Lieder, je nach Auffhrungsort. Die Diplomarbeit befasst sich zum ersten mit dem Genre Musical an sich, von seiner Zeit am New Yorker Broadway ber das Londoner Westend bis nach Deutschland und sterreich. Die Enstehungsgeschichte, wie es dazu kam, dass das Stck in Wien und nicht wie ursprnglich geplant am Theater Heilbronn (der Geburtsstadt der Autorin) seine Weltpremiere feiern konnte, leitet den Hauptblock ein. Dieser beinhaltet einen Vergleich der literarischen Vorlagen mit dem Libretto Michael Kunze hlt sich dabei eng an die ElisabethBiografie von Brigitte Hamann sowie an Aufzeichnungen von Elisabeths griechischem Vorleser Constantin Christomanos. Auerdem werden die einzelnen Rollen, Musik, Kostme und Bhnenbild (mit vielen Farbfotos aus den Produktionen) analysiert.
