Die vorliegende Vorlesung, deren Anregung auf meinen verehrten Lehrer, Herrn Prof. Dr.Ing. habil G. Eckart zurtickgeht, wendet sich an Studenten der Fachrichtung Elek trotechnik ab dem 5. Semester. In ihr wird versucht, eine Auswahl aus der urn fang reichen Maxwellschen Theorie so zu treffen, daB der Leser in der Lage ist, Probleme der Ausbreitung elektromagnetischer Wellen und der Antennen mathematisch zu for mulieren und Ansatze zu ihrer Behandlung zu finden. Es wird dabei erwartet, daB der Leser neben den tiblichen mathematischen Grundkenntnissen, zu den en die Funktionen theorie zu zahlen ist, auch mit der Vektoranalysis vertraut ist. In das Literaturverzeichnis der einzelnen Kapitel wurden hauptsachlich die Quellen aufgenommen, die bei der Zusammenstellung der Kapitel wesentlich benutzt wurden. Dabei habe ich versucht, bei gut en Darstellungen mit moglichst wenig Anderungen auszukommen, urn dem Studenten ein Zurechtfinden zu erleichtern. Zusatzlich wur den Literaturstellen aufgenommen, die zum Weiterstudium empfohlen werden konnen oder bei der Losung der am Ende jedes Kapitels zu findenden Ubungsaufgaben ntitz lich sind. Vollstandigkeit kann dabei nicht erreicht werden und ist auch nicht beab sichtigt. Herr Prof. Dr. G. Eckart und Herr Assistenzprofessor Dr. K.J.
