The study at hand has been conducted in response to a request from Kongsberg Automotive (KA) to provide an innovative method and to introduce a new procedure for designing of wiring pattern of car seat heaters. the main aim of this project is to develop a new solution in design automation of wiring pattern of KA car seat heaters that can reduce product costs and manufacturing lead time, yet effective enough to increase producibility. The first step of designing the new wiring pattern is manipulated by the designer. Next, car seat heater 2D layout is imported and then, the dimensions of the elements are defined as constraints. Then VBA (Visual basic for application) codes are opened and the program is run. The result will be a wiring pattern in different 2D layouts. The algorithm written in VBA creates the pattern based on the dimensions of the elements which are used as inputs to define constrained parameters. The created macros are simple to be operated and easy to be modified giving the possibility to users with little knowledge of programming to be able to use independently.
