Industrieroboter werden etwa seit Anfang der siebziger Jahre in greren Stckzahlen eingesetzt. Standardmige Einsatzflle findet man heute vorrangig bei Schwei und Spritzaufgaben. Aufgrund groer Fortschritte in der Automatisierungs und Roboter technik dringen Industrieroboter auch in den Bereich der Montage vor, in dem sich ein groes Rationalisierungspotential verbirgt. Automatisierungshemmnisse existieren vor allem bei kleinen und mittelstndischen Betrieben, da eine groe Typen und Varianten vielfalt bei relativ kleiner Jahresstckzahl eine wirtschaftliche Automation erschweren. Bildet ein Industrieroboter den Kern eines flexiblen Automatisierungssystems, so ver bessert sich die Wirtschaftlichkeit, da ein Roboter im Vergleich zu Einlegegerten fr verschiedene, auch hufig wechselnde Aufgabenstellungen verwendet werden kann. Wegen ihrergroen Vielseitigkeit werden die Roboter auch fr eine Flle anderer Aufgaben eingesetzt, so zum Beispiel fr Meund Prfaufgaben, zum Legen von Kabelbumen oder bei der Fertigstellung von Komponenten aus StandardBausteinen. Hier spielt die Tatsache eine Rolle, da ein weitgehend serienmiger Roboter oft viel billiger ist als eine Sonder maschine. Die beiden Institute fr Regelungstechnik und fr Robotik an der Technischen Universitt Braunschweig beschftigen sich intensiv mit Grundlagenfragen der Roboterentwicklung, der Programmierung und von Sensorsystemen im Roboterbereich. Das Institut fr Ange wandte Mikroelektronik entwickelt Robotersysteme fr die Kleinmontage unter Nutzung von Bildverarbeitungssystemen fr die Lageorientierung, die Qualittskontrolle und Bau teilerkennung. ln mehreren Projekten wird das Thema der automatischen Generierung von Steuerungsdaten fr Roboter aus dem Konstruktionsproze fr Leiterplatten oder andere Bestckungsaufgaben erarbeitet. Das neu entstehende Institut fr Fertigungsautomatisierung und Handhabungstechnik an der Technischen Universitt wird weitere Impulse auf dem Gebiet des Roboterein satzes setzen.
