But, he soon discovers that a Christmas kiss for Grandbear is worth more than any present! With simple, poignant details, Prater captures all the joy and warmth of family at Christmas time. John Prater studied art in Portsmouth and Brighton and worked as a teacher for many years before turning his attention to children's books. His first book, "On Friday Something Funny Happened", was shortlisted for the Mother Goose Award in 1982. Prater first got the idea for "Baby Bear" when he became a granddad. This is the ninth "Baby Bear" book that he has written and illustrated. John Prater lives in Horndean, Hampshire.
