In den megaurbanen Agglomerationsrumen bestimmen Staus das tgliche Straenbild. Gesundheitliche Belastungen der Bewohner durch den tglichen Schadstoffaussto, die Luft und Lrmbelstigung sind die Folge. Diese Auswirkungen beeinflussen darber hinaus das globale Klima und verursachen enorme Folgekosten eines weltweit wahrnehmbaren Klimawandels. Vor allem in den hchstbelasteten Megastdten Asiens mit den weltweit grten Bevlkerungskonzentrationen sind Verkehrskonzepte gefragt, die dem enormen Mobilittsproblem entgegenwirken sind und praktikable Lsungen zur Bewltigung des tglichen Verkehrsaufkommens bieten. Am Beispiel der indischen Megastadt Delhi soll im Folgenden die besondere Verkehrssituation in megaurbanen Rumen untersucht und zunchst kennzeichnende Merkmale der Ursachen und Rahmenbedingungen des mega urbanen Verkehrs aufgezeigt werden. Mit Blick auf die Anforderungen an ein nachhaltig ausgerichtetes Verkehrskonzept, das im Sinne der langfristigen Sicherung von Ressourcen fr nachfolgende Generationen eine kologisch, konomisch und sozial tragfhige Zielsetzung verfolgt, gilt es anschlieend das 2008 in Betrieb genommene Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)Systems Delhis einer kritischen Betrachtung zu unterziehen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll daher stellvertretend fr die Megacities der Entwicklungs und Schwellenlnder am Beispiel Delhis untersucht werden, ob BRTSysteme einem nachhaltigen Verkehrskonzept entsprechen und inwiefern sie dem Ziel einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung zur Ls
