Este trabajo ha sido desarrollado como una pequea contribucin a los grandes esfuerzos que muchos investigadores realizan da a da, para mejorar y optimizar la limpieza de membranas de ultrafiltacin(UF)en aplicaciones biotecnolgicas. Los aspectos ms importantes tenidos en cuenta para el desarrollo tecnolgico de este mtodo de limpieza elctrico son: bajo consumo de energa, parmetros elctricos de diseo por debajo de los lmites de seguridad, operacin de limpieza rpida, sin agentes qumicos y sin parada de planta. El texto presenta un marco terico donde se explican los principales factores del ensuciamiento y sus modelos matemticos de flujo permeado ms conocidos. En la Parte II se hace un anlisis del proceso de limpieza mediante campos elctricos utilizando a la misma membrana como nodo del sistema elctrico. A continuacin se calculan los parmetros de diseo para la construccin del prototipo y se hace un anlisis detallado que muestra la eficacia del mtodo. Finalmente se presenta un modelo matemtico de UF a dos variables independientes mas general y un mtodo totalmente elctrico para la medicin de la capa de ensuciamiento.
