The book reveals many secrets of the geology of North Eastern Iraq (Kurdistan Region) during Late Cretaceous. The area includes the most important part of Zagros Orogenic belt that is located between Iraq and Iran where many large oil field are found. The book focused on precise basin analysis by the tool of sedimentology, stratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy. By these tools tectonics, environment and paleogeography models are configured. The rocks columns of the Maastrichtian and Campanian ages are correlated in six different sections and divided into two main depositional sequences during deposition of which the most intense tectonic uplift was occurred in the Zagros Region. The intensity of the tectonism has generate an elevated foreland and foreland basin in which Shiranish,Tanjero, Kolosh Formations and others are deposited.
