Gli Enti organizzatori italiani sono stati l'Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei e la Fondazione Giorgio Cini di Venezia, per la prima volta e con felici esiti impegnate in una comune impresa. variamente consona ai loro profili istituzionali. I partners sovietici che hanno collaborato ad essa sono stati l'Accademia delle Scienze e l'Unione degli Scrittori dell'URSS, per la cui cura hanno partecipato al Convegno alcune delle personalit pi interessanti dell'Unione Sovietica contemporanea: se ne pu rendere conto chiunque scorra il loro elenco di nomi, quasi simbolicamente disponibili a coprire tutto il vasto spazio che va dalla vita politica a quella ecclesiastica, dalla pi rigorosa scienza storicofilologica alla militanza letteraria. A livello formale, due le personalit pi rappresentative da parte sovietica: quella der Primo Segretario dell'Unione degli Scrittori dell'URSS, Vladimir Karpov, e quella dell'arcivescovo di Smolensk, Kirill Gundjaev, che appena dei mesi dopo il Convegno sarebbe diventato il 'ministro degli affari esteri' della Chiesa ortodossa russa.
