Bedenkt man, wie weit vor allem in der Politik Argumentationen verbreitet sind, die sich auf die genannten Konstrukte als zweifelsfreie Sachverhalte beziehen, so wird deutlich, wie wenig die Problematik, die in derartigen Begriffen und Daten steckt, ins allgemeine Bewugtsein gedrungen ist. Die Beitrage dieses Bandes versuchen, sich den Problemen aus ganz verschiede nen Blickwinkeln anzunahern. Es handelt sich urn eine Art Zwischenbilanz, in die die Erfahrungen und Probleme eingeflossen sind, die sich im Laufe der letzten Jahre aus verschiedenen Forschungsprojekten, die wir im Rahmen der Arbeitsgruppe sozi ale lnfrastruktur bearbeitet haben, angesammelt haben. Wir haben darauf verzich tet, die unterschiedlichen Perspektiven der Autoren kiinstlich zu "glatten"; konkur rierende Deutungen wurden mit Absicht nicht unter den Tisch gekehrt. Es solI dem Leser iiberlassen bleiben, die Plausibilitat verschiedener Argumentationslinien gegen einander abzuwagen. Besonderen Dank schulden wir Margot Lambert und Usch Biichner, die das Ma nuskript geschrieben und mit Engelsgeduld die zahlreichen Oberarbeitungen der Beitrage auf sich genommen haben.
