By confronting the unbelievable smallness of the 'perfect American community' and exposing the sinister cult of the Brotherhood of the Bees, Laura and Kent De Salvo discover, not only a weapon against the clandestine evil that grips the town, but a rekindled passion in their relationship and a realization that 'safe and perfect' are only relative terms.
