Avoiding road traffic collisions is my passion. As an Advanced and Defensive driver trainer working in the fleet sector; after many postcollision courses and onroad training sessions, I feel I know the key factors in common collisions to avoid them altogether. We investigate these and sum them up in five chapters focusing on the 'fivestar road user' model; 1 Reducing Surprise 2 Taking responsibility (rather than attributing blame)3 Remaining focused and mindful on the task4 Designing your way out of problems before they happen5 Continuously learning from your experiences.We delve into human behaviour, psychology and mindsets which hinder or improve your chances of having a collision. We make some odd decisions when using the road; many of which we are unaware of, are you?Even if you are aware of these, or you have completed further driver training, some of these techniques (designs to avoid a collision) are ones I have learnt or developed over the years of experience. Designed for driving instructors, advanced drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists and anyone interested in avoiding a roadcollision. Most techniques apply to all.
