Parallel wird es zuknftig wichtig sein, ein effektiveres Management zu betreiben und sich wirtschaftlicher zu verhalten, um am Gesundheitsmarkt auf Dauer bestehen zu knnen. Ein Instrument, welches sich schon seit Jahren im harten Wettbewerb der Industrie bewhrt hat, gewinnt im Krankenhausbereich immer mehr an Bedeutung: Das Benchmarking! Es ist ein Instrument, welches sich fr jede Branche anwenden lsst und somit sehr flexibel einsetzbar ist. Die Deregulierung des Gesundheitswesens wird durch die jeweilige Bundesregierung sukzessive vorangetrieben, so dass Benchmarking fr ein Krankenhausmanagement nahezu unumgnglich wird. Es hilft dem Krankenhaus, sich fr die schwierigen Marktbedingungen zu rsten und um sich damit die Chance zu bewahren, besser zu sein als die Konkurrenz. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll die Hausarbeit aufzeigen, was Benchmarking im Krankenhausbereich vom Grundsatz her bedeutet. Die Arbeit ist dazu in zwei groe Hauptbereiche unterteilt. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werde ich zunchst erlutern, was Benchmarking grundstzlich bedeutet und hervorheben, was unter dem Begriff zu verstehen ist. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werde ich das Benchmarking im Krankenhaus nher erlutern und darstellen, welche Ausgestaltung das Benchmarking dort speziell annimmt.# Ob man jedoch eine gute bzw. schlechte Marktposition beansprucht ist unerheblich fr die Inanspruchnahme des Instruments. In beiden Situationen kann Benchmarking sehr hilfreich sein. Auf der einen Seite, um den Anschluss nicht zu verlieren bzw. wieder herzustellen und andererseits, um seine Position im Wettbewerb zu behalten oder sogar auszubauen.
