Die ersten drei Bcher stellen eine Analyse, bzw. ein Modell der Mechanismen der Wirtschaft dar. Smith beschreibt ausfhrlich die Zusammenhnge zwischen Angebot und Nachfrage, den Ursprung des Geldes, die Preisrelationen der Produkte und Waren sowie Kosten und Kapitalkomponenten bei der Erzielung eines Gewinns. Da sich die vorliegende Hausarbeit jedoch berwiegend auf Smith Abhandlung der politischen Aspekte der Gesellschaft konzentriert, werden diese Teile nur am Rande angeschnitten. Dagegen werden strker die letzten beiden Bcher aus dem Wohlstand der Nationen' betrachtet, da Smith hier auf die Funktion des Staates eingeht und eine eindeutige politische Empfehlung des Freihandels abgibt sowie ganz allgemein sich des Prinzips des Laissezfaire' (Lasst machen', gewhren)1 widmet, welches er zwar nicht selber erfand, aber dafr von ihm logisch begrndet wurde.
