Um sein Ziel zu erreichen, das heit, um dem Schler das selbstndige Erkennen, das Lernen heit, zu ermglichen, stehen dem Lehrer zwei Wege offen: die mndliche Unterweisung, und sie ist fr Thomas die vorzgliche Form der Lehre, und die augenfllige Demonstration. Fr das Verstndnis dessen, was Lehren und Lernen bedeutet, kommt es aber weniger auf diese zwei Wege an, als darauf, wie auf dem einen und auf dem anderen Wege die geistige Eigenaktivitt des Lernenden erreicht wird, die ihm das Lernen ermglicht. Dieser Ansatz steht quer zu dem, was heute Didaktik genannt und als Didaktik gepriesen wird und ist gerade darum (man bedenke: es handelt sich um einen Text aus dem Mittelalter!) hchst aktuell: Lehre ist nur dann erfolgreich und sinnvoll, wenn sie den Lernenden dazu motiviert, aus eigenem Interesse lernen zu wollen. Die Ausgabe bietet den vollstndigen Text der Quaestio XI (ber den Lehrer) aus den "Quaestiones disputatae de veritate" und ergnzend den ersten der vier Artikel der "Summa theologiae, Teil 1, Quaestio 117" in einer parallelgefhrten lateinischdeutschen Edition mit einer sachgerechten Einleitung und einem umfassenden Kommentar.
