Neben den klassischen Lsungsmodellen des Operations Research, gibt es als Ergnzung dazu die Instrumente des Revenue Management. Das Operations Research bedient sich abstrakter Modelle und lst diese mit Hilfe mathematischer Verfahren, wie der Linearen Programmierung. Das Revenue Management implementiert zustzlich Faktoren der Prognose und Statistik. Bei begrenzten Ressourcen stehen Unternehmen hu?g vor der Frage, welche Kapazitten sie zu welchem Preis anbieten sollen, oder welche Auftrge lohnend sind und welche abgelehnt werden sollen. Mit dieser Frage beschftigt sich das Revenue Management. Dazu werden verschiedene Instrumente verwendet. Um die Methoden umsetzen zu knnen, mssen gewisse Voraussetzungen erfllt sein, welche in dieser Arbeit ebenfalls erlutert werden sollen. Der erste Teil dieser Arbeit beschftigt sich mit der Entstehung des Revenue Managements. Die Anfnge des Revenue Management liegen in der Luftfahrtindustrie und wurden seitdem erfolgreich in anderen Dienstleistungsbereichen umgesetzt. Die Voraussetzungen und die Instrumente werden im zweiten Teil meiner Arbeit erklrt. Eine Anwendung des Revenue Managements im Bereich der Sachgterproduktion wird in Teil drei der Arbeit durchgefhrt. Bis zum heutigen Tag gibt es zum Thema Revenue Management wenige Monographien. Die Forschungsergebnisse sind meistens in Zeitschriften oder Sammelbnden verffentlicht. 2004 verffentlichten Kaylan T. Talluri und Garrett J. vanRyzin ihr Buch The Theory and Practice of Revenue Management. In diesem Buch ist der aktuell gltige Forschungsstand festgehalten.
