I was looking for more about Berlioz's music rather than his life story. While it's a well-researched book, it wasn’t really what I hoped for. Some of the anecdotes felt stretched and didn't keep my attention. Might be better suited for serious music historians.

I bought 'Berlioz: Volume One' as a gift for my friend who's a huge classical music fan. The way it dives into his life and struggles is captivating. The illustrations are beautiful, and it really paints a vivid picture of his making as an artist!

This volume has some great information about Berlioz’s early years, but I found some sections a little boring. The writing style could be more engaging. Still, it’s a solid read if you're interested in classical music history.
