Darin schildert ein anonymer Fachmann, den man als Fontenelle identifizieren kann, seinem philosophischen Freund durch einen Brief, wie er die Marquise von G... in die Astronomie eingefhrt hat und stellt ihre Spekulationen ber mgliche Mond und Planetenbewohner dar. Fontenelle ist in die Zeit des auf dem Verstand beruhenden Rationalismus und des auf sinnliche Wahrnehmung konzentrierten Sensualismus einzuordnen. Kerstin Strl bezeichnet die Epoche der Textentstehung als Differenzierung innerhalb des Rationalismus und weist diesem rationalistischen Text eine teilweise sensualistische Prgung zu (vgl. Strl, 2004: 4). Die jeweils philosophischen Einflsse auf den Text sollen hier aufgezeigt werden. Wichtig ist, dass Fontenelle mit den Entretiens zwei zu der Zeit unvereinbare Zielgruppen ansprechen wollte, die gens du monde und die savants. Deshalb werde ich der Frage nachgehen, wie sich diese Intention auf die gesamte Textgestaltung auswirkt. In der Zeit von 1700 bis 1800 stieg die Bedeutung von Literatur und Philosophie in Europa . Diese Zeit wird auch als der Wandel in der Geschichte des menschlichen Denkens bezeichnet. Das Wissen und die Sprache gehrten im klassischen Zeitalter zusammen (vgl. Mortureux, 1989: 106). Rationalistisch gesehen reprsentiert die Sprache das Denken, wie das Denken sich selbst reprsentiert. Die Auffassungen werden anhand Ren Descartes Regeln in 2.2 deutlich.
