Kapitalverflechtungen im Wege von Beteiligungen haben wahrend der letzten Jahrzehnte sowohl im nationalen als auch im internationalen Bereich eine immer groBer werdende Bedeutung gewonnen. Einhergegangen mit dieser Entwicklung ist ein wachsendes Inter esse an einer moglichst sinnvollen und betriebswirtschaftlich durchdachten Darstellung von Beteiligungen in der externen Rechnungslegung der einzelnen Unternehmen und Kon zerne. Ein derartiges Interesse haben aIle Adressaten eines Jahresabschlusses bzw. eines Konzernabschlusses. Durch das BilanzrichtlinienGesetz (BiRiLiG), das Ende 1985 verabschiedet worden ist, sind die Rechnungslegungsvorschriften des Handelsgesetzbuches (HGB) grundlegend re formiert worden. Die umfangreichen Anderungen und Neuerungen betreffen u.a. auch die Behandlung von Beteiligungen im JahresabschluB sowie im KonzernabschluB. Mit der Ab bildung von Beteiligungen in diesen beiden Informationsmedien beschaftigt sich mein ehemaliger Assistent, Herr Dr. Michael Jean Gschrei, in der vorliegenden Monographie. Die Arbeit gliedert sich systematisch in zwei Hauptteile. 1m ersten Teil beschaftigt sich der' Verfasser eingehend mit Fragen der Bilanzierung, der Bewertung und des Ausweises von Beteiligungen im JahresabschluB. 1m zweiten Teil der Arbeit wird ausflihrlich untersucht, wie im KonzernabschluB Beteiligungen an anderen Unternehmen abzubilden sind, die nicht im Wege der Konsolidierung in den KonzernabschluB einbezogen werden. Dabei bil det die in der deutschen Bilanzierungspraxis erstmals anwendbare EquityMethode flir Be teiligungen an assoziierten Unternehmen den Schwerpunkt dieses Problemkreises.
